Hi everyone,

Dear community members,

Hope you had a rejuvenating weekend. This is a quick overview of the week gone by on Network Capital. You can get access to all our offerings once you subscribe.

🚀 Start of the Ed-Tech Fellowship on August 28, 2021

🧑🏻‍🏫  Insights from the first month of the Network Capital School

Historically education was an amorphous bundle of core skills, soft skills, critical thinking, signaling value and networking (think of school as a place where kids go to socialize. What we are witnessing now is the great unbundling of education where different companies and communities are attempting to capture one part of the bundle. What that means is that education companies these days are fundamentally different than the educational institutions we are all familiar with.

In this 3 week-long fellowship, we will -

  1. Unpack the trends in the Ed-Tech industry

  2. Learn from insights the best Ed-Tech operators and investors

  3. Help you build your Ed-Tech thesis

In the past, we have hosted people like Ronnie Screwvala (co-founder of UpGrad), Azeez Gupta (co-founder of Rocket Learning), and Mercedes Bent(Partner, Lightspeed Ventures).

On August 10, 2021 we completed one month of Network Capital School. One month of learning adventure that encompasses critical thinking, effective speaking and clear writing. We have had students between the ages of 8 to 18 from US, Canada, France, UK, and India join us in their journey.

This is a student from our Summer School taking about his experience.

Building Vyomm’s account, our single goal with the Network Capital School is help each and every student build their category of one and find relatable mentors

One such mentor is Siddharth Dixit, who will teaching our students on August 28, 2021.

If you are (or know) a curious student between the age of 8 to 18 who would like to join the Network Capital, register here. If you cannot afford the fees and would like a scholarship, apply here

Buffett explains that she (Blumkin) went into the furniture business knowing she didn't bring anything unique in terms of industry insights or technical acumen. What she brought to the table was an unbridled determination to succeed, knowledge that she could outwork anyone else and most importantly, care for her customers.

How you do anything is how you do everything. Blumkin made customer obsession the core value of her company.

Network Capital is a movement, not just a company. It is a movement designed with the goal to help every person on the planet discover their superpower and carve a meaningful career around it. Together we are building Network Capital to last. While funding is an important milestone, one that we cherish, we are always going to focus on learning outcomes and community trust.

I don't like to think of company success in terms of valuations and exits. I measure success only on one metric -- did we help build a new generation of learners obsessed with carving their category of one? Yes or no..

With or without funding, that was going to be our destination.

People care about why you do something a lot more than what you do. If you are not able to convey your “why”, nothing else matters. I am a graduate of X and I work at Y might be impressive for 10 seconds but after that it will be your mission statement that will create new opportunities, i.e., augment your luck surface area.
