Network Capital School | Learn from sharpest graduates of Oxford, Harvard, INSEAD & Yale

Insights from month 1, session with Mishaal Nathani, & more

Dear readers,

On August 10, 2021 we completed one month of Network Capital School. One month of learning adventure that encompasses critical thinking, effective speaking and clear writing. We have had students between the ages of 8 to 18 from US, Canada, France, UK, and India join us in their journey.

This is a student from our Summer School taking about his experience.

Building Vyomm’s account, our single goal with the Network Capital School is help each and every student build their category of one and find relatable mentors.

One such mentor is Mishaal Nathani, who will be joining us today (August 21, 2021) for a session on the Network Capital School.

Mishaal is a lawyer by profession and an entrepreneur by nature. He has previously worked in the CEO's Office at Dr. Vaidya's, a new age Ayurveda company. In addition to this, he is the Co-Founder of Plane Crazy, a full-service creative consulting agency. Mishaal graduated with a B.A. LL.B from Jindal Global Law School. He has been admitted to Harvard Business School for the MBA program as part of the 2+2 deferred enrolment.

Month 1 at Network Capital School

Most schools around the world are designed like factories. They follow the assembly line model and train students for taking tests, following rules without questioning and competing for meaningless goals.

The Network Capital school curriculum is designed to help students follow their curiosity (instead of passion) and train them to learn across disciplines. Magic happens at intersections of knowledge - combining math and music, physics and poetry, design and anthropology.

While specialization is important, rushing to specialize without knowing why you are specializing in the first place can be a recipe for disaster.

Keeping this in mind, here are the highlights from the first month!

  1. Focus on public speaking. For the first month, we started with a clear aim of tangling improving the ability of all students to become better public speakers. As the end of the 30 days, the difference is remarkable and clear. All students practiced Feynman’s principles of learning to teach one thing they enjoyed to the class.

  2. Personal goal setting & support. Network Capital School leaders and mentors has 1:1 sessions with each student to help them identify their long-term and short term goals. From college applications and setting up social enterprises - over the course of next 6 months we will be working with each and every student to help them actualise their dreams.

  3. Mentorship and micro-activities. In July-August we hosted faculty members from Oxford, INSEAD, Microsoft, Policy professional to engage with the students. They conducted micro-experiments and activities help students apply the learnings.

Starting with Mishaal’s session today, in August-September our students will learn from some of the sharpest graduates of Oxford, Harvard Business School, INSEAD and Yale. They will also learn from top professionals from Economist, Boston Consulting Group, Facebook and Stripe.

Our next session (August 28, 2021) is with Siddharth Dixit (The Economist Group -> BCG -> Yale) on decision trees and critical thinking.
