What we learned together this week

Key take aways and learnings

Network Capital started with a simple idea that everyone has something to learn and something to teach. In its first phase it was a google form with mentor-mentee details and a manually matching process. We matched pairs from diverse backdrops; Israelis with Palestinians and poets with quants.

In 2016, moving from one-to-one matching we started with many-to-many mentoring through a closed Facebook group. With a thousand members to begin with, in two years, the group had over 50,000 millennials from 104 countries. It was recognised in the top 50 groups globally by Facebook and was invited to create a subscription community.

With this, in 2018 a subscription community was started on Facebook. After crossing the 1000 subscriber mark in 2019, Network Capital TV was created; the first product for network capital. A place where you could get access to all our content.

Today, we are excited to share the launch of the new Network Capital platform - a single sign on for all content, community and career intelligence resources.

After months of designing, iteration and improvement, networkcapital.tv is now live. Here’s what you can expect -

  1. The community forum The biggest updated with the new web app is the creation of our own community space. A space without any algorithms or distractions. Designed to help you connect with your community members in a meaningful way. Subscribe now to get access to the Insider community.

  2. All your content at one place Our priority is to get you content from the best in the world. Every week we come up with new masterclasses, podcasts and newsletter. Now you can access all of them in one place.

Now onto the week that went by

  1. Fellowship OrientationThe orientation for the CEO Fellowship and “I don’t know what I want to do with my life” Fellowship is scheduled for November 7, 2020. We will be sharing the curriculum and schedule over the week. You enrolled here, if you already haven’t signed up.

  2. Your consumption diet for the weekThere is way too much junk in the digital universe so we read hundreds of articles every day, listen to hours of podcasts and read quite a few books to bring you the most curated list of reading and thinking material that will help you get even smarter than you already are.

  3. The anarchist CEO and his company with no managersImagine running a company with 10,000+ employees across 25 countries with no managers, bureaucracy, or hierarchy; or building a company based on radical trust and the common sense of people that you don’t have a HR department. In this newsletter we will look at the leadership principles of Jos de Blok, the CEO of one such company - Buurtzorg.

  4. Marx, Adam Smith and Bullshit JobsTired of the woeful inefficiency, market competition was supposed to fix it but even according to the latest surveys carried out in countries ranging from UK to Sweden to America to India, somewhere between 35 – 60% of employees believe their work makes 0 difference. There is clearly a crisis of meaning even though these “bullshit jobs” pay the bill for the time being. Read here.
