Learn community building with Network Capital
Join the Network Capital community building fellowship | October 6
As you may know, Network Capital has been selected for Facebook’s Community Accelerator Program! Over the next eight months, we’ll receive funding, strategic support, training and mentorship to invest in our community. More information to come in October. Stay tuned.
This moment is special because we did this together. We have grown from being a small passion project our founder Utkarsh Amitabh set up while working at Microsoft to becoming one of the world's largest career intelligence communities without spending a single dollar on marketing or sales.
Together we scaled trust and created an ecosystem of personalized mentoring from Patna to Paris, from Thiruvananthapuram to Tokyo, Lucknow to London, New Delhi to New York.
We truly believe that every single person has something to learn and something to share. All we need is a culture and community to enable it. Network Capital is that community. It is your community, one you have nurtured over the past five years, battled a grueling pandemic with and come together in times of need to demonstrate to an increasingly polarized world that peer-to-peer kindness, peer-to-peer learning can be defining factors of the world we want to shape.
Network Capital is a movement, not just a company. It is a movement designed with the goal to help every person and every organization on the planet discover their superpower and carve a meaningful career around it. Together we are building Network Capital to last and one important step in that direction is teaching others the art and science of building communities.
Learn to build your own community
It is useful to think of community building with the “world building” lens popularized by Alex Danco.
“Your job is actually to create a world that is so interesting and so compelling and has a reason for people to go walk in and explore this world that they can go spend time in it, without you even having to be there. There is an understanding of why they want to explore it. They have an understanding of why they want to be there and what’s in it for them. And what’s there to learn.”
Building a community is a lot like shaping a civilization with shared cultural values, code of ethics and even a constitution of sorts. In the Network Capital Community Building Fellowship, we will give you tools, techniques and mental models to figure out these questions —
1. Why should your community exist?
2. What do community members get by being part of your digital civilization?
3. How can you enable community members to have meaningful peer-to-peer relationships?
4. What can you do put accountability mechanisms in place?
5. How do you make community members feel like partners and co-creators of your mission?
6. When and how should you monetize?
7. How should you scale?
8. What can you do to ensure community culture strengthens with scale?
9. What does success look like? How you do you measure community impact?
